Postponement of the entry into force of European legislation on deforestation EUDR

The EU Council, based on a trilogue with the European Parliament and the European Commission, agreed to postpone the entry into force of the EUDR deforestation regulation by 12 months, i.e. from 30 December 2025.

The extra year will help Member States, companies and traders to prepare carefully for the implementation of this regulation. In mid-2025, the EU is expected to carry out a so-called benchmarking exercise, which will divide EU countries into three categories according to the risk of deforestation and, depending on which category a given EU country falls into, it will have obligations to meet the requirements of the EUDR.

The European Commission also published a manual on the EUDR at the end of 2024, available in all EU languages. You can download it here.
